February 18 meeting

Hi Families!

We hope the girls had fun at cowgirl night last week. Here are a couple of pictures:

This week the girls will finish up their Emergency Preparedness badge. Please have your Spark bring a stuffed toy or doll – they will be practicing first aid with them.

Just a reminder that our next meeting will be Monday February 24 rather than Tuesday the 25^th. See our previous post for details. We will have one of the Sparks leaders meet the girls at the front door of St. Leonard’s (5344 Long Island Rd., Manotick), as there will be a number of people there. Please arrive shortly before 6:15 if possible. Also, please let us know if your daughter cannot make this meeting.


Rona cards: Girl Guides of Canada has teamed up with RONA for a fundraising project. Discount cards for 5% off most purchases, that can be used at the two Ottawa RONA locations, will be provided to families . When the cards are used, RONA also makes a matching donation to Girl Guides. Marigold will have the cards after February 24 – please ask for one!!


Finally, we have two field trips scheduled for after the March break. Stay tuned for details – permission forms will be emailed out shortly.

Cowgirl Night - Feb. 11

Hi Families,

Just a reminder that this week is Cowgirl night. Girls are invited to wear a cowboy hat and/or a bandana if they have one. We'll be having a rip roarin' good time this week. Yeehaw!!!


We have a few more details about our Thinking Day meeting on Monday February 24 (this replaces our Tuesday meeting that week):

Girls should bring indoor shoes and water bottles


This year's theme is "education opens doors for all girls and boys." The girls will be working with the other units in our community (of all ages) on activities geared to this theme.


Also, the Disney on Ice tickets are in! Please see Marigold/Jen.

The Lowdown for February

Hi Families!

I hope everyone is rested up after our great sleepover on the 25th. A big thanks goes out to Vicki and Debbie (leaders from other local Sparks units) for organizing such a fun event. I hope all of the moms and daughters in attendance had a fun time!

Here are a few updates for February:

Feb. 4 - We will be working on the Emergency Preparedness Challenge.

Feb. 11 - It's Cowgirl night! Wear a cowgirl hat and/or bandana if you have one and come out for a fun night of line dancing, cowgirl-themed camp songs and other fun activities.

Feb. 18 - We'll finish off the Emergency Preparedness Challenge tonight.

Feb. 24 - Thinking Day activities. Please note that the meeting this week will be on MONDAY, rather than on Tuesday. The girls will be taking part in a community-wide meeting in Manotick at St. Leonard's High School. Details will follow shortly.

Also, please note that we now have a date for spring camp: it will be Mother's Day weekend at RCMP Campground on Long Island. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
